Cookie Policy
Important notice
This document is provided for information purposes and is being reviewed by a legal adviser / data protection officer before the official launch. It does not constitute legal advice. The exact list of active cookies is updated according to the tools actually integrated on the website at the time of launch.
What a cookie is and why we need your consent
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, what types of cookies and similar technologies we use on the „Meșteșugarul Brăilean” website, for what purpose and for how long, as well as how you can express, change or withdraw your choices. The policy applies together with the Privacy Policy, of which it forms an integral part.
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser or on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit it. On subsequent visits, the cookie can be read by the website, which allows, for example, remembering preferences, keeping the products in the shopping cart, the proper functioning of pages or, with your consent, measuring how the website is used.
In addition to cookies, we also use similar technologies that store or access information on your terminal, such as the browser's storage space (localStorage and sessionStorage) — for example to remember the shopping cart or the favourites list. In this policy, the term „cookies” covers, for simplicity, all these similar technologies.
Cookies may be „session” cookies (deleted automatically when the browser is closed) or „persistent” cookies (which remain stored for a set period or until you delete them manually). They may also be „first-party” cookies (set by „Meșteșugarul Brăilean”) or „third-party” cookies (set by other providers whose services are integrated into the website, such as Google).
The installation of cookies and similar technologies that are not strictly necessary takes place only with your prior consent, on the basis of Art. 4(5) of Law no. 506/2004, in conjunction with Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 7 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR). Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement, in accordance with Art. 4(6) of Law no. 506/2004.
Which cookies we use
The table below sets out the cookies and similar technologies used on the website, grouped by category. The durations and names set by Google are established by it and may change.
The cookie categories have the following meaning:
• Strictly necessary: they enable the basic operation and security of the website (navigation, keeping the cookie options, securing the forms, the shopping cart and the order steps, the technical session). Without them, the website cannot function properly. They are exempt from the consent requirement and cannot be disabled from the consent banner.
• Analytics: they help us understand, in a statistical and aggregated manner, how the website is used, in order to improve it. They are provided through Google Analytics 4 and are activated only with your consent.
• Marketing: they allow the effectiveness of advertising campaigns to be measured, conversions to be attributed and remarketing to be carried out, through Google Ads/DoubleClick. They are activated only with your consent.
• Functional: they enable additional functions and an improved experience (for example displaying certain elements integrated from third parties). When they involve non-essential third parties, they are activated only with your consent.
Marketing cookies (Google Ads) apply only when the campaigns are active. If we integrate additional providers or Google changes the names or durations, we will update this table. The exact list of cookies active in your browser can be consulted at any time from the browser settings.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookie-consent (localStorage) | Meșteșugarul Brăilean (first-party) | Stores your cookie choices (acceptance/refusal by category) and the policy version, so as not to ask for your consent again on each visit | Persistent, until deleted or until a major change to the policy | Strictly necessary |
| cart / wishlist (localStorage) | Meșteșugarul Brăilean (first-party) | Stores, only in your browser, the products added to the cart and to the favourites list, so you can complete the order | Persistent, until deleted | Strictly necessary |
| Session cookie / form protection (CSRF token), where applicable | Meșteșugarul Brăilean (first-party) | Ensures the operation and security of form submission (contact, order, quote request) | Session | Strictly necessary |
| Local storage of forms and chat conversation (sessionStorage), where applicable | Meșteșugarul Brăilean (first-party) | Temporarily stores, only in your browser, the data entered in forms and the chatbot messages; it is not transmitted through cookies | Session | Strictly necessary / Functional |
| _ga | Google (Google Analytics 4) | Distinguishes unique users and measures how the website is used, for statistical purposes | 2 years | Analytics |
| _ga_<property ID> | Google (Google Analytics 4) | Maintains the session state for the GA4 property | 2 years | Analytics |
| _gid (if enabled by GA) | Google (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes users for statistics, in the short term | 24 hours | Analytics |
| _gcl_au | Google (Google Ads / conversions) | Measures the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and the attribution of conversions | 90 days | Marketing |
| IDE, test_cookie | Google (DoubleClick) | Advertising, remarketing and measuring ad performance; test_cookie checks whether the browser accepts cookies | IDE up to ~13 months; test_cookie ~15 minutes | Marketing |
| NID, CONSENT | Google (Google Maps) | Displaying the interactive map with the address of the workshop and shop — the map loads for all visitors, regardless of the cookie choices (the trader's decision) | NID ~6 months; CONSENT up to ~2 years | Functional (third-party, not conditional on consent) |
Third-party cookies and prior consent
Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads (including conversions and remarketing) are services provided by a third party (Google) and are not strictly necessary for the operation of the website. Therefore, they load only on the basis of your prior consent.
Before consent is given, Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads do not write cookies and do not place identifiers on your terminal. We use the Google Consent Mode v2 mechanism, configured by default to „denied” for all storage categories (analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization). Thus, until you give consent, analytics and marketing cookies are not set. When you accept a category, the corresponding signals are updated to „granted”, and the services begin to operate according to your choice; if you refuse, the services remain disabled.
The Google Maps map is also a service provided by Google and may set cookies (for example NID and CONSENT). In order to display the address and location of the workshop and shop permanently, the Google Maps map loads for all visitors, regardless of the cookie choices expressed. This is a decision of the trader, which we bring to your attention transparently; unlike analytics and marketing cookies, the map is not conditional on prior consent.
The use of Google services may involve transfers of data outside the European Economic Area; these transfers are governed by Google's policies and safeguards (for example, standard contractual clauses). You can find further details in the Privacy Policy and in Google's privacy policy.
The consent banner and managing your choices
On your first visit (and whenever the policy changes substantially), we display a consent banner through which you can choose which categories of cookies you accept. The banner respects the following principles:
• The „Reject all” option is just as visible and accessible as „Accept all”, being available from the first level of the banner.
• We do not use pre-ticked boxes: the non-essential categories (analytics, marketing) are disabled by default, and consent requires a clear and positive action on your part.
• We do not make access to the website conditional on accepting cookies (no „cookie wall”) and we do not use „dark patterns”.
• You can give consent granularly, by category, through the „Customise” section.
• Consent may be withdrawn or changed at any time, just as easily as it was given: there is a permanent „Cookie settings” link in the footer of the website, which reopens the banner (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
Refusal or withdrawal of consent for the non-essential categories does not affect the basic operation of the website, including the ability to place an order.
Managing cookies from the browser
Independently of our banner, you can control and delete cookies directly from your browser settings. Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked or deleted, as well as warnings to be set. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect the proper functioning of the website, including the shopping cart.
Official instructions for common browsers:
• Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data (support.google.com/chrome).
• Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data (support.mozilla.org).
• Safari (macOS/iOS): Preferences/Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data (support.apple.com).
• Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies (support.microsoft.com).
For behavioural advertising cookies you can also use the dedicated European tool: www.youronlinechoices.com/ro. You can also express your choices directly in your Google account settings.
Cookie storage duration
Session cookies are deleted automatically when the browser is closed. Persistent cookies remain stored for the period indicated in the table above (for example, up to 2 years for certain Google Analytics cookies and up to 90 days for certain Google Ads cookies), or until you delete them manually or withdraw your consent.
Your cookie choices (stored in the browser's local storage) are kept so as not to ask for your consent again on each visit; you can change them at any time from „Cookie settings” or by deleting the site data from your browser.
The controller, your rights and proof of consent
The controller of the website and of the processing described in this policy is the trader operating under the trade name „Meșteșugarul Brăilean”, with its premises in Brăila, Romania. Full identification details (legal name, CUI, Trade Register number) are set out in the Legal Notice section; contact details: [CLIENT: e-mail address], telephone [CLIENT: phone number].
Insofar as cookies process personal data, you have the rights provided by the GDPR: the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to withdrawal. Full details of these rights and of how you can address the supervisory authority (the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing – ANSPDCP) are set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of this policy.
For data protection purposes, no DPO has been appointed; the contact point for data protection is the e-mail address above.
In order to comply with the obligation to be able to demonstrate consent (Art. 7(1) GDPR), our consent management platform records and keeps proof of your cookie choices: the moment of expression, the information displayed at that moment and the categories accepted or refused. These records are processed solely as proof of consent and for establishing or defending a claim, and are kept for a reasonable period for this purpose.
