The Romanian cușmă, made here the way it has always been made: cut from three clini, three gores, with the hair running upward on every one of them. The lambskin curl is left as it came off the skin, pale and dark patches included.
The first photograph takes them from above, set side by side; the second shows them from the side, on their stands, so you can follow the line that narrows towards the point.
Fur is cut with a knife, never with scissors: scissors cut the hair itself, and a cut hair shows. Once the stiffening canvas goes in, the cap is pulled onto the calapod, the wooden block, to take its shape, and is brushed again after that.
This piece is made from Lamb fur.
The exact materials and origin are confirmed at the collection launch.
- Gently shake off snow and let the cușmă dry in the air, away from heat sources.
- Brush the hair with a soft brush, in its own direction.
- Keep it on a block or loosely stuffed, so it does not lose its line.
