Opinci, the traditional Romanian leather shoe, cut from a single piece of leather gathered at the front into a sharp, slightly lifted point. The long thongs, cut from the same hide, cross over the foot and tie at the ankle.
The first photograph shows a pair dyed red and a pair in the natural colour of the leather. The second takes the natural pair close up, with the thongs coiled around them.
The top edge is punched and threaded with strips, the way an opincă has always been put together. There is no lining, no heel and no glued sole: the leather is the whole shoe.
This piece is made from Natural leather.
The exact materials and origin are confirmed at the collection launch.
- Dry them at room temperature, loosely stuffed with paper so they keep their shape.
- Do not dry them on a radiator and do not leave them wet overnight.
- Feed the leather rarely, with a neutral balm, especially at the toe where it folds most.
We stand behind our workmanship. We repair and recondition the pieces we make. Bring the piece to the workshop and we'll assess it together.
